  1. Two Last Matches

    Posted on

So our two final, hard fought games are over and done with for the 2014/15 season.  It has again been a great and eventful journey with many wins under our belt. ONC has triumped in it's quest to promote a club that is balanced in having fun, but at the same time encouraging fitness and skill levels along the way.  In addition to a slowly growing club, in numbers and strength, several members have gained coaching awards, and others on their way to completing umpiring courses.  Oh what a great bunch of inspirational people!  A photo opportunity was seized at the pub at the celebrations after the matches - a great finish to the afternoon.  Roll on our end of season weekend away . . .

  2. Rearranged Harlequins Game

    Posted on

The1st team turned out to play a rearranged game in a bracing wind and steady downpour of rain last night.  Despite miserable weather, the team were fired up to support one another in an exhilarating game, both to play in and watch (so the coach and steadfast supporters say).  After a 25-38 lose to Harlequins earlier in the season, the team were keen to go on the attack straight from the off.   The court and ball was slippery with visibility reduced by the sideways driving rain at times.  No surprise then, that neither team got anywhere near a high score with the wind taking the ball on a completely different course once it left the shooters hands.  ONC took up the challenge though and with a no fear attitude,  although a win was not to be had this time, an amazing 16 all draw prevailed.  Just shows what can be done when you throw a few adrenalin junkies together and mix them up with a mish mash of skills and fitness training! Roll on the next game . . .

  3. More wins :)

ONC enjoys a succession of wins in the last couple of weeks with both first and second team winning their games.  Games which were played with a fiestyness that wouldn't look out of place on a battlefiled. Not that we are fighting for our lives, but sometimes you would think so!  Keep up the good work you very special ladies!  The second team took up a photo opportunity before the battle commenced today - what a beaut:

  4. Most recent matches / Xmas Dinner Dance

    Posted on

Both 1st and 2nd team finished before the mid season break with two spirited matches.  Unusually neither team won on this occassion, however, players still had a spring in their step and went away loving their unquestionable success this season so far.  Following the Secret Santa evening, ONC members look forward to further Christmas festivities at a dinner/dance tonight at a local golf club.  A three course meal to be consumed in conjunction with just a few alchololic beverages.  There is also no doubt that dancing will be up to the usual standard and the evening will include a fair amount of singing, which will not be unsimilar to a cats choir!  Whatever the evening brings, it is sure to be enjoyed by all.  Wishing each and every member a wonderful Christmas and look foward to our next meet early in 2015!
